Andrew and Kaylee Moreau
Thursday Afternoon
Andrew's home
Kaylee stepping in to knock some sense into a frantic Andrew.
It had only been three days. “Only” was a pretty subjective word in this case. It had been three eternities. He could count on one hand the number of hours he had slept in that time. Not that there was any point. He had exhausted every resource he had. It was no small thing. The Sidhe, Aegis, the Haskel Coven, and even a few lone talents were searching for Melisande Wyndel. But it wasn’t enough. Andrew himself was going over every interaction he’d ever had with Gabriel Reed, whose simultaneous disappearance from work made him the prime suspect in this whole nightmare.
The real Gabriel Reed, of course, was dead. Maybe he had been a decent man, his reputation destroyed posthumously, the way this new Gabriel had sought to destroy Andrew’s. He was the sort to care what people though, but right now he didn’t. He didn’t have the time or the patience for it. After three days of this, he had done everything he could. Teams were searching around the clock. The Sidhe and Aegis were coordinating in a way they never had. It was something that under another circumstance, he would have been proud of. The Aegis team had been hand-picked by him, and somehow Audric had made that cut despite everything. The best of the best were out there right now. And Mikino had his best on it. He didn’t know the details of the Coven’s work, but he knew they were doing everything they could, and he had continued acting as a liaison between all three parties, coordinating the efforts as best he could.
Kaylee wasn’t the first to tell him to sleep, but she was the first to get through to him, asking him just what good he would be if they did find her if he was ready to collapse, and bluntly reminding him that he wasn’t helping her this way. So he went to his room and he tried to fall asleep. It wasn’t easy though. Every room in the house held memories of her. Their first kiss had been in the glow of the fish tank in this very room.
Eventually it became a simple matter. He was only human, and his body could only handle so much. Once he did fall asleep, he slept longer than he intended. It was afternoon when he woke up, and he dressed quickly, checking his phone to make sure he hadn’t missed any calls or messages. He was intent on heading right out.
