Kaylee, Abel, Andrew
Monday evening
Kip's hospital room
Kaylee wasn’t a slow learner, but she didn’t have the natural knack for just picking things up right away either, which required Tristan, of all people, to be patient with her. Luckily his natural inclinations once he discovered what she was made that easier, and since she was, in fact, his discovery in some sense, she didn’t mind being a pet project. Whatever got the job done.
Once the shock and some of the worry wore off, it started to be fun. It was exciting, being able to just do all these things. It wasn’t quite that easy, but it was exciting. Magic provided its own motivation and she had taken those first terrifying steps now. She was gaining confidence in herself. And Tristan, being Tristan, was excellent at putting on a show. So one minute she was asking him about “Birthday Candles” and the next she was fading in and out in ICU. When she was allowed to actually wake up, Andrew had been there, reassuring her it was all alright. She was still groggy from the drugs then but he promised to be back later. But when he did come back, he got sidetracked, talking with Mel, which left her to doze on and off out of sheer boredom more than anything.
The next time she woke up, she started to move her arm, then stopped as she became aware of the IV there once again. A look around revealed a new visitor, so some time must have passed… It was getting dark outside, but it wasn’t quite there yet.
“Abel… How long…” Her eyes slipped closed for just a moment, fighting back the grogginess from the morphine.
