Liliana and OPEN
Park/Hiking Trail
Early morning
She was flawless. Not in the human approximation of the word, caked in concealers and highlighters, bronzers and blushes. But not in the artificial sense of the word, the way a doll might have been either. Her skin was smooth, ready to yield in all the right places. The curves were just this side of subtle, attracting attention without boldly demanding it, accentuated with a striking yellow dress that fell to her knees.
Platinum eyes were sweet and almost demure, flecked with amethyst and adorned by unnaturally long lashes. Her bare feet seemed untroubled by the rocky surface of the trail. Each step set mahogany curls to dancing, the wind catching them up in charming disarray, tugging playfully.
At one time, it had all been meant to be bait. Liliana’s species had preyed upon humans in earlier centuries, and perhaps there were those of her sisters who still did. The fragrance of her, a clean aroma of lilacs after a rainstorm, held pheromones enough to captivate any who ventured near. If the sensual form wasn’t enough, the chemicals typically were.
But Liliana had not been taught to hunt.
The perfect front was a lie. She had been every bit the ideal victim she looked to be. If there was an edge of danger to what she was no, underneath it all, it was not nature’s fault. Beneath the placid surface there was fresh turmoil. A young girl trying to find her way. And the potential for that monster of legend to take her place. When the stranger approached, the winds went still all at once, unnaturally so. The petite form turned, and there was a horrible sort of patience in the muted glimmer of grey eyes as she waited to see what sort of encounter this was to be.
