Celeste looked down at the card dubiously. "You would do that for a stranger?" That was different.
She put the card in the same pocket with the stolen leather cord. "I grew up hunting." The words seemed to tumble out of her mouth. "One of the first things I learned was the importance of an accurate shot. There's no reason to make the animal suffer. Make it quick and clean."
The brunette gestured around them. "This is cruel, you know? Everyone walking around with a damn sword dangling over their heads. Even if not all of them know it. Wouldn't it be kinder, a favor even, to speed things up? It's where we're all going anyway.
She swallowed. She was not used to talking this much. "Anyway, um, how much for the book?"
