The drawing had been made on paper first, then etched carefully over an hour, because once you put something sharp into the bar top, it was a do-or-die situation. It was an outline of a wild rose at the top, complete with a stem and leaves, but the stem curved into a treble clef at the bottom. The word Nesryn followed the curve of the flower, with his name tucked inside the loop of the clef. He had wanted to do something that represented both of them, together, and remembered the meaning behind her name. But it also went deeper than that for him; Nesryn, who sang all the time, meant as much to him as music.
"I had to google what a wild rose looks like," he confessed. "One of these days, I'm gonna finish this song I'm writing about you, and I'm gonna sing it," he pointed to the stage, "Right there. I'll probably drink a couple of beers first."
