Re: Brian, Radek, Echo, Annie
“Hey, Annie,” he said, going to sit casually at a table between them, out of Radek’s hair. Somebody’s disposable coffee cup was sitting there, cold and abandoned. He rotated it and read the name on the side. ‘Jim.’ He thought it might be the guy who went outside earlier and got dragged around by his pant leg. Brian winced and left it alone, putting his hands palm down on the table and straightening.
The longer he sat there, the more he picked up that somebody in the room smelled familiar, under the fragrance of coffee and tea and medicine. Brian looked between Annie and the woman with dark hair and freckles. He’d bet money there was another ‘welder’ in the room. The shop was empty except for the three of them and Myles, whom Brian wasn’t too worried about on this front.
“Question. Sorry, doc, I know you’re trying to do your thing. Is everybody in here... the kind of person who’s not that surprised? Y’know, because of personal experience. Very personal experience. Raise your hand if you get my drift.”
