Gabe, even as he was muttering a spell under his breath, could see Rhiannon drawing those capable of moving toward where he was, and he slowed his breath and looked up. Overhead a number of eagles and falcons were circling, two of the falcons descending until they landed, first on the roof of the workshop, then down to where Siofra and Gabe were, one taking up position on Gabe's shoulder. Three eagles descended immediately after, taking up positions along the edge of the roof.
Gabe looked back across the carpark, now with clearer vision of the entire scene. Rhiannon's work on the outside flank had reduced the numbers, and she was now drawing those creatures still capable of moving toward them gave him a better chance of taking care of the remainder, Abby and Mikey having dismembered the ones already there, nearest the circle of tanks. He created the plan, visualised it, and sent it out. The eagles flew off from the roof and started circling overhead the beasts, the falcons remaining where they were. As soon as Abby and Mikey were back behind the line of cylinders he stretched his arm out, words flowing as the cylinders jerked and jostled against one another, then rose up, reaching a height that was just above the gathered herd. Gabe knew timing was everything for this to work, and his fingers tightened on Siofra's fur as his eyes focused on the circling eagles. What looked like a thin curtain started to form beneath the eagles, spreading out in a dome-like shape that descended just as the tanks exploded, an incendiary ball billowing out and engulfing the remaining creatures. Gabe was shaking, his knees buckling as he maintained his grip on the cougar at his side, the curtain between the group and the flames thickening, while the other side thinned, and three vehicles caught alight. Gabe was now on his knees, the burning creatures bellows and screeches quickly evaporating into the night air as the intense flames vapourised their carcasses.
The only remaining objects still burning were the three vehicles. Gabe was glad it was a myth that they explode when on fire, and fell back against the wall behind him, taking in deep breaths and trying not to choke on the smoke that was now filling the air.
