The way her nose contorted went past him. Nobody was judging anyone for anything right then. They still had pretty bug fish to fry.
When Annie seemed settled with the ice wrap, Ronnie did take a moment to survey the upturned kitchen. She was right - he felt bad about the state of it but then they’d just fought a bunch of monsters and if the sound from the freezer was any indication, there could always be more. He didn’t want to stick around to see if that would be true.
“We can’t do anything about it. If the rest of the town is like this, maybe we can join in and help clean up later. Once these things are gone for sure, but staying here any longer is a sure way to meet your maker and I don’t wanna go out like that.” He was already covered in monster goop.
His gaze went first to Celeste and then to Annie. The card was taken, “Thanks. You were a lot of help already.” He didn’t try to correct Annie, either, when she called Celeste your girl. Even if he wasn’t with Mikey, Celeste was still out of his league. “I’m gonna get her to safety. Thanks again.”
A look around. Ronnie went to Celeste, scooped her up carefully and exited the restaurant. He got Celeste into the truck and then climbed in, speeding back to the trailer on Lincoln Street.
