Annie wished she had a TAC team for whatever it was that was about to happen, but these two seemed as though they could hold their own. She'd had half a mind to ask the woman if she had a permit for her weapon, but decided against it; any port in a storm, after all, so if it helped stop whatever was happening at the fast food joint, Annie was all for it.
She could hear that the man who had dispatched the first creature had returned by the sick little squelch that sounded when he pulled his makeshift spear out of the remaining muck, and Annie trusted that he would follow. With the brunette pushing her way through the swinging doors, Annie decided to take a more direct route and called on her ops training as she hoisted herself up and over the counter.
Her right foot landed on another of the monsters, a tiny one no bigger than a squirrel. It looked almost like a ferret, if they had scales instead of fur and bloody eyes that popped out of their sockets. It immediately snarled and bit at her, sinking needle-like teeth into the side of her foot. Annie yelped and quickly brought her own chair leg down on its skull. The brittle scalp caved in immediately and the creature stopped biting, almost immediately melting into more of the same oily mess that had been left in the main restaurant. Annie took a deep breath and regretted it; the stink of the thing was making her eyes water.
"That's two down!" she called out. "Heading for the back -- sounds like there's a lot more!"
