The subject of Elfleda Who: Radek (& Brianna) What: Recall, memories and Research When: After 'the meeting' Where: N/A Ratings G
Going through his napkin notes the next morning, Radek picked up his coffee and walked to his study. There were two items that had stuck out in his mind as he'd recapped his recall of the things discussed at the meeting the previous meeting.
1. His uber driver 2. Elfleda, the 'whole other important topic'
He'd asked Brianna on the way to deliver her home if she had 'read' anything at the meeting, and she had told him that there were only unfixed emotions and some scattered visuals, none she could connect to anything or anyone as it was as if she was existing in a fog.
"But there was one, which was rather a shock," she told him as he parked the car, recalling the images and sounds she had identified as men in pain. Describing it to Radek had his eyes widen a little, and he reached out for her hand.
"I'm so sorry my dear!" he told her, keeping his mind clear of the events he had recalled when talking with Phanuel. "I believe that was my fault," and whilst holding her hand he instead recalled the image he often brought to mind, that of Phanuel as their conversation had reached its conclusion and the angel had left. He watched her face as she looked back at him.
"That was me, recalling the events of the evening I first met the angel Phanuel," he explained, "and the terrible night it was. She came to me, in answer to my prayers, when all hope had failed me, and I was in the deepest of despairs, wanting to end my life to give them all a chance to live." He swallowed hard, making sure to keep any thoughts he had on the angel who had visited him rather than the horrors that had brought him to that point. "It was an important turning point for me in my life, and she gave me the gift of hope, that stirred me on to become who I am today," he finished, giving her hand a light squeeze.
"Thank you, dear friend, I'm honoured you shared that with me," she replied, her eyes shining a little as she realised just how important that memory was to Radek. "I will be able to sleep tonight knowing that there was resolution to all that," she continued, returning the light squeeze of his hand. He patted her hand, then opened the car door and hurried around, Brianna waiting patiently as she knew it was something he enjoyed doing, no matter how often she had gently told him she was capable of opening her own car door.
She stood, taking a step aside to give him the room to close the door again. "Thank you again for taking me, I would not have gone if it hadn't been for you. And while I still don't understand why I was there, it was an interesting gathering."
"It was indeed, and I may call and check some things with you as I expand my notes," he replied, leaning in and pressing a light kiss to each of her cheeks. "Meanwhile, sleep well Brianna."
She nodded, and was soon inside, giving Radek a small wave as the immortal waited patiently beside his vehicle until she had closed the door.
He reached for the power button on his computer's screen, pressing it as he took a sip from his coffee and started to arrange the napkins in front of him on the desk, humming to himself as he looked them over. A short while later he was peering at the screen, piecing together the different events that had been identified by those at the meeting, and making a list of the locations he would be investigating for further information. It was difficult to set up any sort of timeline with what he had, so he knew that had to be the first order of business, to start to get some indication of what it was that had him so intrigued with this. He chuckled to himself as he recalled a lecturer he'd had in his days of studying archaeology. 'Zee ze time, you must zee ze time!' which he and his fellow graduates all agreed might be something they could do if provided as much hallucinatory assistance as their professor.
"See the time is indeed a little hard at the moment," he mused out loud to himself. "The university library is the next stop!" His eyes fell again on the napkin in the middle and he picked it up, the name Elfleda still leaving him wondering.
"James, I will ask him," he decided, and quickly sent off a text to the young magic user.
'You mentioned a name that needed 'a topic of its own', yet nothing more was said. Can you tell me more?' Satisfied with his morning's progress he happily headed out to the kitchen to prepare himself for lunch before attending the afternoon clinic at the hospital.
