Connections
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.
Not all who experience death's fleeting touch recount light and pleasure. Other realms, too, are spoken of being encountered. Landscapes of desolation, hellish things and the abyss... A place where nothing but absence if felt, far from anything godly. A place where no light, no love, dares to reach. A place where the abandoned suffer the pain of hopelessness, unaware it is the misery of regret which is fed upon.
When the blazing sun is gone,
When the nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
Blessed was the Emissary; the Black Light's favoured. Lady Elfleda, whose unholy form floated, suspended within the billowing of her sickly cloud, hiding the pale form within. Her courtroom one of glass, empty, save for her. Eyes closed, physical sight unnecessary for her home. She whispered without voice, laughed without smile and spoke to those who would listen. Guided them... So many... Simultaneous communion with the multitudes of her damned followers, so eager to taste the sticky sweetness and swallow her in.
Some more literally than others.
Then the traveller in the dark,
Thanks you for your little spark,
He could not see which way to go,
If you did not twinkle so.
So many shores... So very many worlds... It was not a human form of comprehension. Everything was simultaneous. Layers within layers, schemes within schemes, games within-
She was taken. Her Athena had been taken. The would-be son had taken daughter and a great ache spread like warmth sinking into mud and an unsettled clench of teeth sneered in spiteful reaction.
When it came to matters of her family, Elfleda did not much care for abduction.

Clouding darkness expanded, flowing into the eternal night and hunger leached its owner forth. This would not do. This simply would not do, at all. Preparations were set and the veil was slit, emptying her from one realm to another. Elfleda was searching, setting forth her hunters to find what was needed. To find the undead thing which had set all this in motion.
Down through a crack she slid, passing from one world to another. Her essence flowing out as to stand before the wretched creature whose actions had caused Athena to be dragged away.
