“Found a place here easy enough, same day, but up there in Vegas?” Gabe shook his head as he took a mouthful of beer from the bottle he was holding.
Cian nodded, eyes roaming across the patrons at Lucky’s, wondering if there were any who were there on that night a few weeks ago when the place became a scene of carnage. With a small shake of his head at the fact that it all may as well have not happened, his attention was drawn back to his mate’s woes when Gabe placed his empty bottle on the bar and called for another round. He quickly downed the rest of his to catch up.
“Well f’ the time being you’ve got the place here, it’s half decent,” he replied, turning his back to the crowd and resting his elbows on the bar as he and Gabe waited for the fresh beers.
“And it’s not like it’s somewhere you have to stay for good, so just grab a place,” Cian added.
“You know it has to be good enough in case Ana comes to visit,” he replied, as he pulled a note from his wallet and put it on the bar, sliding his wallet back into his hip pocket. “So it can’t be like the places I was seeing this week.” Gabe’s sister had been sent to a private finishing school, and had certain expectations when it came to living spaces, and the only place Gabe had seen that came close didn’t have private secure parking, so he’d had to reject it.
Cian nodded, never having met Gabe’s sister but having heard enough about her that he felt like he knew her. “Somethin’ ‘ll come up. After all it’s Vegas!” he laughed, nodding his thanks to the bartender who delivered their fresh round to them and grabbed the note on the bar.
“Yeah, Vegas,” Gabe said drily, picking up his beer and starting into the neck before taking a swig. “I still don’t see what the big attraction there is,” he admitted, having spent the last few days and nights in there. “Other than the anonymity if can offer.”
Cian shrugged, “that could be all that some folk want,” he pointed out. “Especially folk looking for things that most people only know of in their dreams… or the movies,” he added with a smirk.
Gabe threw him a sideways glance. “Have you been in the … ring, since you’ve been back?”
Cian shook his head. “I was thinking about going up tomorrow, take a look at the place and see if it’s still operating. It used to move every so often, when the local law enforcement became too greedy or too lazy.”
“Well, let me know if you go and I’ll tag along, make sure you don’t get in over your head,” he teased, drawing a roll of the eyes from the werecougar standing beside him.
“You wish!” Cian scoffed, knowing it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to have someone like Gabe there to watch his back. “I’ll send you the address if it’s still open.”
