Visiting Henderson

When: 1st December
Where: Henderson Executive Airport and residence of Tomáš Dobrovský(Radek)
Ratings G
As the private plane touched down at Henderson Executive Airport a limousine edged its way out of the hangar in which it had been waiting. By the time the passenger had alighted the driver was waiting with the door open, greeting the familiar face with a smile and nod. He closed the door and soon the car was exiting the airfield and turning toward the exclusive residential area of Macdonald Ranch. By the time the car was climbing through the foothills to Dragon Ridge the driver had updated the passenger on his family’s health, his daughter’s preparations to head off to college to study film production, and his son’s latest bettering of his personal best time over a half marathon.
“So soon one will be running Hollywood while the other runs rings around all of us!” the passenger laughed. “I don’t know how you keep up with them.” The tone shifted to a little more sombre. “And how is Adeline?”
“Oh it’s taking its toll on Adeline,” he sighed, “but she’s doing much better now. The Doc says the treatments are working and I have to tell you, I’ve never seen anything like it. From her almost being in a wheelchair, to being up and walking around, almost as good as new!” The driver’s eyes met those of his passenger in the rear vision mirror. “It’s a miracle. And we don’t know how to thank you and the Doc,” he said, the sincerity clearly showing in his eyes, “and you have to promise, if there’s anything, anything at all you need, or the Doc, you know all you have to do is ask.”
“I know, Felix, and you’re welcome. I’m sure Doctor Jeppersen knows too. You and Adeline deserve nothing but the best of what’s available, and I want you to keep me up to date with everything, that’s all I ask.” Felix nodded, knowing just how much value was placed on discretion, and loyalty. The information he had provided over the years, both requested and volunteered, had built a level of trust, and he knew it was appreciated. For seventeen years he’d been in their employ, and he and his family had lived comfortably because of it.
As the car reached the curved section of road that preceded the cul-de-sac at the end of Dragon Ridge Drive it slowed. Felix knew his passenger well enough to know this was a favourite section and he drove so the view could be enjoyed at a more leisurely pace. The quiet glide of the vehicle’s tyres on the smooth asphalt came to a slow stop at the entrance to the residence, a moment’s wait and slowly the security gate started its roll into the wall that surrounded the property.
A short while later the gate opened again and Felix and the vehicle departed, a list of instructions having been received, and a gift, expanding his small collection of first editions of his favourite author, Fyodor Dostoevsky, sitting on the seat beside him.
