Who: Open to All! (Thread) What: 2nd Annual Thanksgiving / Drinksgiving Party When: 11/25/21, 7PM - Midnight Where: Lucky's Saloon, Searchlight (Off Veterans Memorial Hwy, Across from McD's) Warnings: Only Time Will Tell
Most businesses boarded up at dinnertime on Thanksgiving. For the past two years, that was not the case at Lucky's Saloon in Searchlight, Nevada. The venue sat at the intersection of trusted neighborhood watering hole, rustic roadhouse, and motorcycle dive; it was somehow all of those things and yet none of them, and it had a healthy reputation for 'some freaky shit,' meaning that if anything weird went down in Searchlight (and it often did), Lucky's was in the mix. It also had a ton of heart, its staff an oddball collection themselves who were just as often found filming each other in embarrassing situations as putting elbow grease into keeping the place afloat.
Last year's Thanksgiving party had been more of an open-door buffet for people who found themselves too far from home to travel. This year, they expanded on the concept, snagging event sponsors to help put on the event, defray costs, and make it more of a party. Lucky's came with the hard liquor, bar appetizers, and staffing. Brasserie Le Breeze had the craft beer and cider. Rose's Food Truck and Terrible's Roadhouse supported the Lucky's kitchen with a Thanksgiving menu. The M&M Coffee Shop supplied coffee and pastries. Odd-i-Tees designed the event t-shirt and there were boxes provided for non-perishable and cash donations to a food bank. Penny, aka DJ Malum, provided the music. Curiosities tossed some cash in the mix and smudged the hell out of the men's bathroom.
When the doors opened, the bartenders were ready to pour drink specials (Turkey Bombs, Fuzzy Blue Gobbler, Wild Turkey shots). Lucky's had the usual set-up. Long wooden bar, a few tables, and a small space for a DJ and dancing in the center room, then slot machines, pool tables, and additional seating branching off to the left and right of the main room. One corner had been cleared for a mechanical bull. Last year, Lucky's had expanded a covered patio off the side of the building. There were picnic tables, flat screen TVs playing football, lawn games, and a fire pit outside.
Last but not least, the back room that was usually reserved for friends of the owner had been opened for card games.
