The small rustle of things dropping onto the leaf litter beneath the tree had JD look down, the said items being pieces of detritus falling off the jawbone he was holding. Even as he looked at it a large piece of what could only have been flesh at some point, detached and fell with a finality that had the detective sigh. He carefully shook his hand as he walked, trying to make sure he didn't actually end up wearing any more of the crud. A patch of grass, out from under the arch of the tree, and he crouched, again attempting to remove the gunk as best he could, again apologising to whoever it was who laid there, or at least their spirit. "At least he won't be coming for any more of your relatives," he murmured as he also wiped his free hand on the soft green grass. When it was about as clean as he figured he would get it he stood up again and headed toward where the hunter had gone.
