Re: Gabe, Maddy, 'Dragurtle', 'Harpy' & Open
Gabe heard his name and skidded to a stop when he saw Maddy and her very unusual passenger. "What did I tell you about picking up hitch-hikers?" he joked, deadpan, as he slowly reached for her door handle to help her escape while keeping his eyes on the 'dragurtle'. Or whatever it was.
He managed to unlatch the door, making sure not to make any sudden movements, while he studied the creature. The small flippers were waving ineffectively, pushing at the upholstery of the car seat in a vain attempt to launch itself somewhere, anywhere, he suspected preferably aquatic. "Especially ones so far from home," he added as he started to pull the door open. The air around them was suddenly shattered by two screeches, one from the vehicle's door complaining bitterly, the other from a creature above Gabe's head, talons outstretched as it dived down at the sorcerer's head. Natural instincts had him throw his hand up, signet ring turned, as his attention was dragged away from the interior of the vehicle to the harpy descending quickly, and with a shout of some indiscernible Latin the sorcerer launched himself into the car, ending up sprawled on his back on the passenger seat, legs across Maddy and the unusual passenger in his hands, held up above his chest. The sounds of talons hitting the roof and scraping across the paintwork on the top of the vehicle was enough to send shivers down the spine, similar to chalk on a blackboard.
