Annie clenched her jaw. It could be difficult to rein in her temper when faced with an uncooperative witness; the good cop / bad cop routine only worked when there was a good cop on hand to play the other part, and keeping her annoyance in check was the only way to keep from further alienating this woman, who seemed so flip about everything.
