Annie approached with her badge raised, game face on. "Agent Robinette with the FBI, ma'am," she said by way of greeting. "I need to ask you a few questions about Kayleigh Miller. Are you aware that she is presently considered to be a missing person?"
Always best to lead with the reality of the situation. More than a few of the acquaintances and coworkers that Annie had already spoken to were so airheaded as to not even have noticed she was gone, let along considered endangered. Some had made the same assumption as Annie had done from the start -- that the girl had simply taken a powder.
Annie still wasn't ruling that out. But there were other possibilities: drugs, stalkers... hell, for all anyone seemed to know, the girl might have been hooking on the side. It wasn't unheard of -- and it certainly opened her up to a whole new world of danger. So many beautiful people came to Vegas believing the glitter and glamour of the stage would lead to fame and fortune; Annie wondered sometimes how many even made it out alive.
