The night was starting to wrap up at Iris, most of the customers were now heading out into the milder night air while the staff were counting up the takings for the evening or were out in the dressing rooms getting changed out of their costumes back into regular street clothes. Brad was amongst the latter group, he didn't usually feed when he worked here, he often got enough with his side jobs and Iris was just about the fun of it all.
He had seen Penny in passing hours earlier and said that they'd catch up once everything was finished. He adored the Siren and didn't mind at all helping her find someone deserving to become a very late supper, though their times didn't always end like that, sometimes it was just a walk around, a chat followed by something fattening at a diner. Time would tell what tonight would be.
Taking her time, Penny gathered up her things. She didn’t rush or have anywhere to be that required hurried motion. Applying a last coat of lipstick the siren set the stick into the makeup bag and smiled at herself in one of the mirrors.
Slipping the pouch of cosmetics into her purse, she collected the rest of her necessary things and began to make her way toward the outer area to ultimately go. Sharp eyes would catch sight of the etheric vampire she had come to call a friend.
Twisting on the balls of her high heels Penny looked over her shoulder. “Brad!” A wave. Then the siren strutted over to him, she smiled. “Hello my friend!” She hadn’t known him well the first time she had been at Iris before she left for tour. Getting to know him better this time she considered it to be fortuitous.
Back in his shirt and jeans, he looked a lot different from his on stage persona. Some of his makeup still remained, the smokey eyes and some color to his cheeks and lips, it was something he'd wash off before he went to bed, it was Vegas after all and no one seemed to bat an eyelash at anyone in makeup.
Brad grinned when he saw Penny waving at him. "Penny!" He wrapped his arms around her in a hug, lifting her off the ground for a moment. "Another awesome set tonight, your taste in music is impeccable as always." She had really helped him expand his own taste in music, introducing him to some better pieces to perform to, which made his movements seem more fluid. "Ready to go out and see what mischief we can get ourselves into tonight?" He said with a grin, offering her his arm.
As she was swept off of her feet she giggled, curling her arms around her friend. He was always surprising her like that, she loved it! And when her feet found the floor again, Penny peered up. “Thank you!” Everyone told her that her music was good but she genuinely believed it from him. “I’m ready!”
Her arm curled around his and she moved alongside. Through the lingering individuals who remained, mostly leaving employees and a few patrons, the siren shifted fluidly. She took a deep breath of the Vegas air.
“What sounds good to you?”
He took a deep breath of the Vegas air as well, of course it never got as cold here as it did in Chicago, but the summer heat was disappearing and the nights were often the coolest times to be out.
"Shall we see what's happening near the Strip? Might find you something, that's if you're feeling hungry." It wasn't really something that they talked about, how often she needed to feed, he knew it could get messy and he'd just stand guard. There were plenty of suitable meals out there for her, scumbags were everywhere.
“Maybe we could both get what we want,” she murmured. The Strip was not a bad place to start. There was almost always something good there to have at. She had never really discussed his eating needs either. It was usually something done not always expressed.
She followed his lead. Penny loved to look at people. Step by step she followed along with Brad, curious and interested.
“What do you see?”
Brad enjoyed people watching just as much, though he was sure it was for an entirely different purpose. Tonight he was looking for those displaying narcissistic personalities or people who were just acting like assholes.
"To our eleven o'clock, that group of guys." It was pretty hard to miss the noise coming from the drunken men making lewd remarks and gestures to those passing by.
Penny turned to look in the direction indicated. She noticed the cadence. She had seen that walk before, the lumbering, slouching stroll coupled with the slurred confidence. Drunk didn’t always mean they qualified but it piqued her interest. “Let’s make some new friends.” Her smile widened.
Letting go of Brad, the siren began to move in the direction of the group.
He stood back a bit, letting Penny go ahead to assess them by herself. She had done this for countless decades before he was even born and despite her small stature, he didn't worry about her getting hurt.
Brad did notice one guy in that group, he looked like he'd make a nice meal for himself, if he played it right maybe he'd get more than just a feed. He glanced over at Penny before walking over to his potential dinner.
The catcalls and whistles were normal. Penny pretended to be sheepish, were they whistling at her? “Hey baby,” one of them said. She arched her eyebrows at the one who had spoken. “Why don’t you let me be your friend?” He asked, words slurred and weighed down with alcohol.
Penny smiled. She set her hand on his chest. “You think you can handle me?” His friends burst into raucous laughter.
Brad had honed in on the guy that had drawn his own interest. "My friend's new in town, I was just telling her how… friendly people can be." His hand lifted, running down the guy's arm with a smirk on his lips.
It was all a game but he could feel the happiness increasing in his target, the others were joining in the laughter. "Go for it, it's Vegas baby!" One of them called out and the man in front of Brad took a step closer. "What stays in Vegas, right?" He slurred.
Penny only laughed softly, making sure to be as femanine as possible. Her eyelashes bat. “I’ve only just arrived. Won’t you gentlemen show me a good time?” Her hand would come to rest on the chest of the one in front of her. A chorus of “ooh” would come from the others minus the one who Brad seemed to have reigned in.
The drunk man smiled at her like a predator might, lips pulled back from teeth, eyes narrowed. “Come on, baby, I’ll show you the best time.” He grabbed Penny by the wrist and began to haul her away. Her heels clicked against the pavement as they made a beeline for the nearest alleyway.
"How about you? Want to show me a good time?" Brad asked, taking the guy's hand and running it down his own stomach. He was already feeding from the drunken happiness that was radiating from the guy, but who says he couldn't have his own fun?
"Yeah, we'll have some fun." There was cheering from the rest of them as Brad was led away towards another alleyway, all the time he was using that contact to feed his own hunger.
Once in the darkness of the alley he pushed his prey down to their knees. "Show me what you can do, hot stuff."
Meanwhile Penny was pressed against one of the walls. She set down her purse, kicked out of her shoes and smiled. The man made to grab her wrist against but this time wasn’t successful. Instead she gripped his wrist and turned it, snapping the bone. The sound was like music. By now he was lured, her soft song had lulled him into a state of contentment.
Before too long she was stripping flesh from the bone. Arms, torso. Enough of the face and neck to be unrecognizable on first glance.
After getting her fill she made her way out of the alley in her heels, clutching her purse. First she glanced around to make sure no one from before would see her. It seemed the group of friends had moved on.
Brad meanwhile was having his own fun, the man in his knees in front of him as he got his fill of happiness, as well as getting rid of a bit of tension. Once he was done he zipped himself back up, thanked the man and left the alley.
It took him a few minutes to find Penny again, but he was smiling as he walked up to her. "Feeling better, my dear Penny?"
Penny breathed with relief upon seeing her friend. She smiled and nodded. “As well as I can be. Come on, let’s find something else to do that sounds fun.” Maybe some coffee or really anything. Her arm curled around Brad’s again and she let him lead her further into the night.
