The eventual handing over of the CD had been somewhat fraught with strange innuendo and no little amount of unnecessary subterfuge. More than once Radek had been forced to duck as if there was someone spying on them. But finally the young… person… identifying as Shimmer, had departed and left the CD in Radek’s possession. Albeit only once he’d promised not to summon any dragons to help decipher what was on it.
The footage it contained did cause his eyebrows to raise, at one point risking departure from his forehead, but his curiosity was soon back in full swing and he made some calls, some screencaps and some copies of the CD, the information soon shared amongst his colleagues who had spent more of their lifetimes in pursuit of understandings of sigils, signs and other symbols used and discovered through their many ages.
Over the months he’d had some interesting discussions with said colleagues, separately, about the source, and he’d managed to sidestep most of their endeavours to pinpoint the origins for the time being. His usual caution at revealing his sources had been enhanced since he’d inherited the ‘gift’ from the vampire Katherine.
Finally he had some information of his own, and confirmation, albeit meagre and disjointed, and only having evolved through much supposition and guesstimation. He gathered together the data and sat staring at it. The forefinger of his right hand scratched lightly at his chin as an idea started to form.
“No, you can’t do that, she’s only just getting a grip on this new level, this would be too dangerous!” he chided himself out loud, putting the papers and printed photographs back into their folder and locking it in the cabinet. Even despite all his levels of security, both technological and supernatural, he’d come to believe these symbols were something he didn’t want any straying eyes to observe. The biometric locks on the cabinet quietly slid into place and he left the study.
