Re: Brian and Brianna and Open
Anticipation often lent greater weight to a moment than the passing of that time actually delivered. And at first that's what Brianna felt as their hands linked. She could feel the strength, the callouses, the nicks and bumps of the flesh covering bone. She slowly released a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding again, as she let her eyelids slowly lower from the startled deer in the headlights look to merely just a friend communicating with another. And as she settled into the sensation of 'normalcy' she found various things floating into her consciousness. Juliet, laughing, hair swinging wildly as she swung around a lamp post, teasing Brianna about the heels she was wearing as they'd gone to the movies to see what became their favourite movie, Frozen. Derek's smile as they started watching that movie together at his place. Radek, at her home in Boston, as he came to collect her for her move to Las Vegas, smiling at Bartholomew and promising to take good care of her. And her father, again smiling, as 'When I'm Sixty Four' by the Beetles wove through her mind, a background of his private lab as clear to her as if she'd been standing in it.
But what she hadn't expected was the cascade that followed, memories that definitely weren't hers, tumbling into her head. Her hands tightened on Brian's, as if she was holding on, trying to keep control of what was now becoming a torrent of thoughts, feelings and sensations, as her body started to tremble, and her knees weakened beneath what was beginning to feel like a physical onslaught.
