Tal:
Hi Roman.
I met one of your employees this evening.
Roman:
Hello darling.
Employees? Who?
Tal:
Noah.
Roman:
Noah is not an employee. More like a friend. How did that meeting go?
Tal:
It went okay.
He asked me about you.
We had a casual talk and we ate at a restaurant.
Roman:
Sounds as if you both had a lovely time, then. What did he inquire about?
Tal:
My opinion of you, where I was from, if I always wanted to be a mechanic.
Roman:
And what was your response?
Tal:
I asked him why he was asking. He told me that you have to be calculating and cunning. And he thought we, you and me, were opposites.
Told him I was from the Midwest and I’d always wanted to be a mechanic.
Roman:
Do you think he’s correct?
Tal:
He could be. But I think we’re similar in many ways. Detail-oriented and also kind.
Roman:
You believe Noah is kind? Or were you talking about us?
Tal:
Sorry. I was talking about us. Noah is strange. Do you feel safe around him?
Roman:
I would trust him with my life. Sometimes the strange ones are those who have lots to give because they are often overlooked or cast aside.
Tal:
He set another restaurant-goer’s meal on fire.
Roman:
He does like to show off. Did that bother you?
Tal:
I didn’t expect it. He also told me he was banned from Searchlight. Something about attempted murder.
Roman:
Noah and I have only known each other for a short time, he can be a bit eccentric. I don’t ask questions, nor does he, and we like it that way. Whatever he has chased isn’t any of my business as long as you are okay.
Tal:
I’m okay. He left right after his showing off.
Roman:
I’m glad you’re alright, dear.
Tal:
Thank you. I wanted to be truthful with my meeting Noah.
Roman:
I appreciate your honesty. Trust me it’s reciprocated.
Tal:
Sorry to dump things on you. Are you doing okay?
Roman:
You aren’t at all, I certainly don’t mind. It’s what we do for each other. I am better now knowing you’re alright.
Tal:
I’m glad you are alright, Roman.
Roman:
As am I.
Tal:
Have you eaten dinner?
Roman:
Not just yet. Are you offering?
Tal:
I am. Is there something I can pick up or would you want to go somewhere?
Roman:
Why don’t we meet somewhere? I could use some fresh air, and a chance to see you.
Tal:
I would like that. Have you heard of the Capital Grille?
Roman:
I haven’t, but I trust you. I’ll meet you there. See you soon.
