Snow in Searchlight Who: Open Group Thread What: 3.5" of Unexpected Snow in Searchlight When: Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2AM-8AM (snowfall), melting by afternoon Where: Searchlight Park, Lincoln Street
With over three inches of rapidly-falling snow on the ground, Searchlight might as well have been an island. Much of the traffic headed up 95 stopped at the truck stop to weather the unexpected snowfall safely. Those residents who didn't wake up to the gusts of wind and chill in the air were awoken by the sound of their neighbors shrieking with joy as they ran up and down the narrow streets. Some threw snowballs. Others dropped on the ground and made snow angels. A few drafted help to create shapes out of the snow in Searchlight park. Garbage can lids were turned into sleds on the hills. Only one person in Clark County could have seen the event coming and it wasn't a local meteorologist.
