The search for the dumpsters had Radek peering into the darkness, squinting a little with the dust that seemed to sometimes kick up in front or beside him. "One would think such a large object would be more easy to find," he said out loud, to no-one in particular. "And yet..." He stubbed his toe on the concrete pad beneath the air conditioning units for Denny's, hopping for two hops in a circle on the other leg and muttering something uninterpretable to any ear, a language that had been dead for centuries. He saw the young woman accompanying him and lowered his foot to the ground again, now muttering an apology for what he had said, even though there was no way she would have understood it.
"I think there is something further ahead, that we might check," he said, pointing behind him toward the corner of the building where another concrete pad was awaiting an unwary toe.
