Summary: Sasha listens to the wolves run, and reflects
Status: Complete

Sasha hadn't heard why the trip had been pushed back, but she reasoned it had something to do with the dead returning in England and Scotland. Whatever the reason, she was glad for it. She hadn't been looking forward to the trip for any number of reasons.

Mostly, she hadn't been looking forward to leaving Jan. This would have been their last year together; he was in his seventh year, and she was in her sixth. She wasn't looking forward to having to lie about her age. She wasn't looking forward to playing spy for the Headmaster simply because she could be a spy.

Moving to the window, Sasha gazed across the grounds. She could see the forest, lit by the full moon. She could feel the chill wind, and she closed her eyes. Sometimes, she could imagine running with them. Jan had wanted to turn her so she could, but he hadn't yet. Astrid was standing in the way of that. Now, perhaps he wouldn't have a chance to.

Resting her hands on the windowsill, Sasha leaned against her arms and watched the wind blowing through the trees. She knew she wouldn't stay up the whole night, but she knew Jan would wake her up when he came in. When he joined her in bed. A little shiver tightened her back, though her arousal was matched only by her sorrow that she'd be leaving him. In a week rather than in a couple of days ... but she'd still be leaving him.

Sasha closed her eyes and smiled as she heard the wolves howling. She could almost pick out the different voices: Jan's was the deepest. Leif's had a slightly yappy lilt to it, and Astrid's wavered at the end of her howl. She listened to the others, and when they fell silent, she knew they were hunting once more.

Retreating to Jan's bed, Sasha stripped away her robes and underthings before she eased beneath his covers. He'd be in just after dawn, and they'd have a few hours before class.
