Kate's eyes had squeezed shut when she felt the other arm start to slowly twist. She could do this. She could do this. She had to do this, because there was no other option, she was trapped and she was hurt and she was going to be tortured to death. She couldn't help the whimpers in her tears.
She didn't see the gunshot, but she did hear it. And more than that, she felt the contraption stop, just before it could dislocate her shoulder. Like nothing, the restraints holding her there unlocked, leaving her to tumble to the floor. Her legs were okay, and her left arm hurt but was useable and likely just bruised or strained. Her right arm, though. She couldn't even move it. It hung, lifeless and twisted like some putty creation. It was excruciating, but she knew the shock was still keeping the worst of it away.
She made her way to Violet as quickly as she could -- it wasn't fast, but she tried. Fresh horror hit her eyes as she saw that Violet's forearm and below was gone. Her eyes cast about the room and she saw it laying on the floor. Should she get it?? It seemed important for healing, surely?? "I'm okay." Her voice was choked with tears and pain, but she was off that damned thing and so the words were true.
She struggled up to her feet and offered her working hand to Violet to try and help her up with her working hand. She moved quickly to pick up Violet's arm from the floor, far too in shock to even register how insane that was. And then a door popped open with a little horn tooting a congratulations. "Can you walk? Can you.." She didn't even know. She just wanted out of this room.
