Kurt almost grinned when Jimon deftly chose a sword for her weapon. That was something they could certainly make work in their favor. Or so he hoped at least. He leapt backward as she took to the air and slashed at him, flipping out of the way nimbly at the last moment, hoping to help add to the perceived suspense. When she advanced toward him again he teleported, disappearing in a cloud of purplish smoke only to reappear on the opposite side of her in order to grab for a sword of his own.
As his three fingered hand wrapped comfortably around the hilt, this time he did flash a fanged grin towards the camera aimed in his direction, making a show of testing the blade’s balance as he flourished it as well. Whatever it took to win favor and to sell this as more than just a high stakes sparring match. At least his teleporting abilities would help give them an excuse to avoid long, close exchanges but Kurt knew they’d have to balance it with keeping the crowd engaged. He bamfed again, this time reappearing high above Jimon to swipe down at her, vanishing again before he could fall.
And so it went, the two of them dancing back and forth between the air and the ground without ever truly endangering one another. Kurt did his best to play to the crowd as much as he loathed them. He made good use of his circus skills, throwing in acrobatics and showy sword tricks wherever he could, calling back to the many swashbuckling Danger Room sims that he’d played around in over the years. At the same time made sure to try and telegraph his strikes and feints so that Jimon could more easily read his movements though it of course proved entirely unnecessary. She was vastly skilled in her own right and did not need his assistance. At home and in training this would have been a welcome challenge but they were far from both.
Kurt had no idea how much time had passed nor how long their match needed to last for but flashy skills and charm could only get them so far before the audience was starting to grow restless and demand blood. Exchanging a grim look with Jimon he could tell that they were on the same page. Neither of them wanted to hurt the other but they were going to have to step it up fast in order to save one another. He sprinted towards her as if to attack head on but teleported just before they closed in, reversing that momentum to try and strike her from behind.
