Miriam listened carefully as Mr Longbottom spoke, nodding so show that she understood. It was worrying news indeed. From little or no symptoms to severe once such as this was serious, of that there was little doubt. It was also worrying that keeping her away from her daughter had done nothing at all to help her.
It went to show that the incubation period for this thing - and the time it was contagious - was greater than she'd previously thought.
'Right now we're working form the assumption that its at least somehow related to Dragon or Chicken pox,' she said as he asked if he could help. 'I wish I had more precise answers, but, well, this is nothing like we've encountered before. I will make sure to save your information, and I can promise you that we will be in touch as soon as we figure out how to treat this. Right now I'm afraid there isn't much to be done other than wait and see. At the moment the baby seem to be doing all right, even if its mother is not.'
She looked at him. 'I wish I had better news to give you,' she admitted. 'But right now we're no closer to working this out than we were when the first case arrived.'
