He knew she wouldn't be hungry, it was just the offchance to get some kind of nutrients or protein into her that might help. Fred didn't really show it but he was quaking inside every time she winced in pain and had no idea what to do except whatever she asked.
When Katie asked him to lay down with her, he nodded. "Of course I will love." So gently, he eased onto the bed and laid his body next to her, covering her more with the blankets. She was blazing hot... but she had the chills again.
Fred would pay any money, give any limb for this fever to break. While the rest of the house had gotten over their fevers... except for George, and fuck... Fred was going to go crazy very soon if he had to endure watching his wife and his twin endure this any longer. But Katie's pox were starting to bleed every so often and all Fred could do was dab at them with some aloe juice that Neville had brought up. Nothing seemed to ease her pain. "I'm here, I'll always be here." He was very afraid that even whispering in her ear would hurt her. "Did you get any sort of rest? I could sing to you if it would help dearest." Fred's voice was wavering and scared but he tried to stay brave for his bride.
