Getting up, almost without wincing, he stepped over to Higgs and helped steady him before slowly walking him to the stair and up. Higgs might want to be brave and strong, but Cass knew only far too well how he felt.
It was a shame he didn't want to talk about it, have help, but in the end of the day that was what he was used to. He just needed to stop thinking that way, and push everything to the back of his mind.
He'd done that for the better part of his life, he could do that now too.
