Little Emma looked up at Seamus, and Emma's eyes grew wide as she realized with a sinking feeling that such a comment should not have been made in front of her. 'Oh, I'm sorry!' she breathed, feeling distressed that she had brought up such an unpleasant topic in front of a child without thinking. She just wasn't used to being around children.
Emma made a face. 'I'm so sorry,' she said again. 'I---,' she stopped and shook her head. It had really been inexcusable.
And Seamus had known the woman, as well. Probably well. She'd really just stuck both her feet into her mouth without even realizing it.
It was odd....she was usually much better in social situations than this!
Her eyes lit up at the thought that there might be the possibility of a job. But in a pub? But then again, she had to find something.
She looked at Seamus, a hopeful look in her eyes. 'I don't know if I'd be good at that type of work. I've never done anything like that before,' she had admit. She'd never been known as a people person. 'Who is the new owner?' she asked. She wouldn't have expected to have that settled quite so soon.
