Montague tilted his head in another slight nod. "Verity agreed with the decision. Our concern is to keep Marlowe safe; and for now, the Manor is safe." It was a truth, a whole truth, one of the few he had no problems telling Lucius.
Which became even more assuredly when Lucius sighed like that. It was quiet, almost as if he didn't mean for it to be heard. He was trying to keep his guard up; it was quite possible Lucius Malfoy had done it on purpose- but, it was a weakness, the man was not the type to let those things show... And he understood now. He'd only been the son before; now he was a father.
What it must feel like for Lucius knowing Draco was keeping them separate; for war reasons or no... "Sir..." he started, before stopping, unsure of where else to go; and instead only taking another sip before focusing back on Mr Malfoy.
"Our home is open to you if you need it." Internally he flinched, not something he should be promising, but a friend of his father's- and though it was obvious he was in process of being manipulated... Lucius had been nothing but courteous.
