He was just putting together the files he'd gathered on the black market "merchants" who Professor Snape had named in his letter, when Susan walked over and handed him the latest report on Rosmerta.
Taking a look on the findings he frowned, looking through the statements Miles had made as well as the findings again.
'Yeah, you're probably right,' he agreed. 'Luckily there are ways to check for sure. Properties of the saliva,' he said remembering the findings in the Fawcett case as well a couple of others.
He pulled out a piece of paper and noted down what the examiners should look for, already going over in his mind what cases he know of containing known vampires who left DNA evidence.
Seeing how much work the examiners had with the bodies from Manchester, they'd probably wouldn't have compared with those when they tried to match the DNA they'd found on - and in - Rosmerta. Everyone had assumed that she was killed by a human after all.
He handed Susan the note. 'Here,' he pointed to the note, 'is what they should be looking for to determine if it was or wasn't a vampire.'
I would also recommend them to compare the DNA found to other cases where we know a vampire was involved if they haven't already. I know there are several, especially after the London attack, but the only one I know for sure is the Fawcett case.'
He gave her a smile. 'It should be in the archive though, if you want to look. Or I can if you want to head off to the examiners', he said. Glancing down at the papers, he frowned. 'One of us should probably write Miles as well, ask her what vampires she was associating with in case there is no match.'
'Do you think the potion would be the reason why he didn't drain her?' It would be an interesting clue to add to the puzzle that was vampires.
