"You're the one who said you couldn't take a shower," Stephen answered. "However, I'm okay with staying here and then taking a bath." In fact he had no intention of letting Adrian take a shower, but saying that would only make Adrian want to.
"I've told you plenty of times to wake me up, haven't I? But you don't like it, so I stay awake. I guess we could reach a compromise. I'll go to sleep if you wake me up. It's only for a few minutes, to know that you're home, that's all." He kissed Adrian back. "It really is all right. I've done it before. Plenty of partying when I was at the Manor, and my father expected me at breakfast by 7:30 regardless of what time I had gone to bed. I've survived days on only three hours of sleep. I really don't mind."
Stephen laughed. "Well, baby, it's not really normal for people who don't supposedly like each other to first send food and then give me hot chocolate." He closed his eyes, breathing in his husband. "But you did, scared the shit out of me. I thought you weren't coming back, that you didn't want anything to do with me, and I didn't know how or why things had exploded. I'm glad you pushed for the ring and the bond. I never would have asked again, not after everything."
