Daphne chuckled at the word 'schlump.' It was precisely the right word, although she would have been hesitant to admit it. "This mummy thing really is like having a full time job," she said. "Or at least, I would assume so, since I've never had one."
"Oh, you were there? How did I miss you?" She then nodded when she said that she had left because of Polly's fussing. "That's why I left my son with my mother. I may not like the woman much, but I can at least trust her with a baby. But you're right, the cold was absolutely horrid, and giant furs to do nothing for the figure."
Daphne nodded, smiling. "Yes, soon. Owl me and we'll set something up." It would be yet another way to escape the manor if she felt so inclined.
