Pansy almost stared, the answer so unexpected. She blinked for a moment, and then she laughed. She liked this man! 'Well,' she smiled warmly, 'a few of your family do have a lot to answer for, especially the ones who go around hugging people without knowing or not they're available for hugging, which they're not! But I like you. Why do you like your office so much?' she asked.
'And I've had better experiences,' she admitted. 'In fact, I don't think I've ever been so unhappy at a party before in my life, but it's not the party's fault. There are just stupid people in the world who are too much of an idiot to see what's under their noses unless you take off all your clothes and say, "Hey, look at me!" and then they probably tell you to get dressed because they don't want to get involved. What's wrong with being involved????' she asked him. 'And then they go and hug on your sister....' she muttered darkly.
'Oh, dear!' she moaned, putting her hand over her mouth. 'Forget I said that.' She wasn't sure exactly what all she'd said, but it was probably too much. She just wished she could remember if she'd mentioned Harry's name.
Pansy looked at him and said quite honestly, 'I hope it helps. I can't do much to help, especially now with a daughter. At least I could do this. And I'm glad I could!' She looked up at him, and said, 'Cass told me that the department has never run better. He respects you a great deal.' More than she was allowed to say, in fact, but enough that he would put his personal happiness second for the good of the Aurors. Sort of. But she remembered that she couldn't say that. 'I've known Cass since I was a child, and we've been good friends for a very long time. He doesn't have that degree of respect for many people.' She flushed. 'But don't tell him I told you that. That's really my conclusion from how well I know him....' She was afraid she'd said too much again. Whatever was wrong with her! She was more Slytherin than this!
Smiling gratefully, Pansy inclined her head. 'I would be honoured to dance with you,' she responded.
