Daphne gave her a soft smile. She was silently grateful that Millicent wasn't freaking out about this. She had expected this to be worse, although Miles had definitely taken the brunt of her immediate reaction.
"I assure you, I'm just as frustrated with him today as you are. He's done nothing but worry about how this is effecting him, when it's going to cause me just as much trouble." She sighed, smoothing Nigel's hair.
Daphne nodded. "I didn't see him leave it here, or I would have grabbed it. And I don't think Miles gives children enough credit, sometimes. They're smarter than they look."
She had to chuckle. "I'll be the first to say something if he tries to put blame on you again. But I really just think he's having a hard time handling the idea of being married." Not that I'm having an easier time, I'm just better at hiding it...
