There was a little vein throbbing at his temple - running just alongside that little mole - and it seemed to get worse with Millicent's voice. He was glad Daphne managed to make a stand, and get herself out of the firing line. Somehow, he figured Millicent would eventually turn it around to Daphne, and this wasn't her fault.
He didn't know why he had the urge to stick up for Daphne, but he did, flashing her a grateful look that warned she should stay away as he turned back to Millicent.
"Daphne's right," he said finally, not reacting to Millicent's words outright. As much as he was hating to admit, it was going to take time. "There's a clause in the contract we're going to have to work on, so there won't be an annulment this week, or next." Months felt like an eternity, and years, well, that was just plain unthinkable.
"Look, we didn't plan for it to happen, and now we have to deal with it and for once I just wish you could have told the children to mind their own bloody business." Liam would tire of having a 'baby brother' soon enough, and he was sure the lustre of having a new mummy would also wear off soon.
"Yell at me all you want, Millicent, right now I'm taking my son home."
"If this is about your precious little access visits, then don't make a song and dance about it. You'll get to see him." Miles moved to the back door, ready to call out for his son and take him home to the manor.
