Cass shrugged. 'I don't think she used anyone Susan. I mean you've read the statements from her girls, haven't you? Each and every one of them told a story of being saved from something or another. I think she did what she could to make money in a time when what she usually sells is harder to find and therefore more expensive to obtain. Besides, if it wasn't her there would be someone else.'
He gave a crooked smile. 'I guess now it will be Miles.' Now that was a thought that was as scary as anything.
He frowned when she mentioned glamours, never really having thought of it. 'I suppose you're right,' he said. 'Not that it would have any bearing on the case.'
He nearly rolled his eyes when Susan started talking about Percy. 'Susan, you know I think your suspension was wrong, but please don't complain too much about Percy to me. It makes me feel odd to be placed in the middle. I still like him as a friend.'
He waited until she put her cup back down, then pulled her closer. 'Gossip? You mean besides me working too hard?' he said with a smile. 'How about giving a guy a snog to make up for it?'
Not that he didn't want a lot more than a snog, but he wouldn't push - even though she said that tomorrow...no better to expect nothing and let her have the chance to back out if she wanted to.
