"Both my mother and father were Slytherins and both of Terry's parents were Slytherins, and yet, you have two Ravenclaws," Stephen said with a smile. "I must admit my parents always thought that I must be... oh, I don't know, stupid is the word that comes to mind to have sorted in Ravenclaw, because really smart people always end up in Slytherin." There wasn't any anger in his voice. He had been too long ago, and he didn't care any more.
Stephen grinned. "Oh no, you were perfectly right. It's much easier to think of things other than 'oh my God, I have fucking holes in my body', but that actually started before. I had a lot of time with nothing to do. Once he cut the bond, and I thought Adrian was dead, I was trying to come up with way to get back at him. If I had had a want, I would have blown up that castle."
He thought about Snape's words. He hadn't studied the Fidelius, not like Terry had, but it didn't make sense to him. "That sounds stupid, doesn't it? If you know where a house is, even if you can't see it, you can still make it blow up or start casting curses until you hit the target. Still either way, I doubt we'll be able to cast spells through all the wards," he said, focusing on the practical stuff."
Stephen listened, and he wasn't sure what was Snape was suggesting, although it sounded like it was possible that he might not have to go. Adrian might name their first child after Snape if that were the case. "Back up a sec, I'm all for nothing going boom, but I didn't mean literally. I meant causing disturbances with the wards of houses at the outskirts. Terry has been working on spells to detect that. Now, I'm not looking to play hero, so I'm all for your idea, except for a small problem: would they see the light? If I understand correctly, you can stand in front of a window of a house covered with the Fidelius and the people could be making faces at you and you can't see them. What makes the light different, and if it is that easy, why the fuck didn't anyone think of this before?"
He sighed. "We were actually thinking a bit more creative when it comes to the bombing. I've been looking at military strategy, but..." He grabbed a blank parchment and a quill and began drawing. "You'd know the shape of the town better, but if we find the perimeter, we'd need people all around, flying in radius, dropping bombs as they go along, Disapparating when they get to the middle. One pass, massive bombing, covering as much of the town as possible and minimum casualties. This would mean getting the Order and the Aurors involved. It also means not telling anyone until the very last moment, so we aren't betrayed." He looked up at Snape. "Your way gets you and anyone with you killed. Maybe we can mark one or two house, but that could only be done when the raid starts and it would still be something that passes through the Fidelius and the other wards. The Death Eaters will be too busy to worry about you when people are flying on top of them. However, it'd still have to be quick, because they could bomb you."
