'Since Susan got suspended for a week, I ended up with the case - and another multiple murder case - and my usual work load. You'll have cost me wrinkles before this week is over,' he said in a mock offended tone. 'I only do hope you make it up to me properly, before I'm to old and grey,' he said with a wink. He knew better than to defend Susan to Lettie, it would be no use - and no point. She had made a mistake, though hardly one to get suspended for, but that was beside the point.
