Verity could feel Marlowe relax against her and she would have smiled had the situation been any different, but in this case it was only a reminder or a challenge to what would win out, her belief's or her stance. When Montague asked the question she felt him stiffen and knew that was a bad sign.
She looked at him, only able to see the top of his head for the most part and frowned slightly. Her arm went around his shoulders and her eyes flicked up to Montague, desperate, worried, and asking for answers.
"You're sure you've never made something uncommon happen, Marlowe?" she asked softly.
"Please don't what, darling?" she asked him, almost turning him around so that she could see his face.
