Ernie gave Terry's hand a squeeze and let out a long, shuddering breath as the memories finally deigned to be shoved back where they belonged, in the past, in the back of his mind where he didn't have to think about them.
"It's okay... I'm okay," he said, finally looking Terry in the face. "I just... didn't expect that to happen. I liked what we were doing. I just... didn't expect the memories to come back like that."
He smiled wanly when Terry said he was irresistible. "So are you," he said quietly. "I guess I just... need to be careful." He absently rubbed at the scar on his chest then pulled his hand away when he realised what he was doing.
He determinedly wrapped his arm around Terry's shoulders once again. "No, let's stay for the movie," he said then he licked his lip nervously before kissing Terry once again, a calmer kiss, gentler and more chaste than before. Merlin, he hoped that Terry didn't decide he was just too much hard work and give up on him. "I don't want to ruin today."
