He waited for her to calm down, and heard the sympathy that was coming from her words. He nodded, biting his lip and doing his best to hide his fangs.
When she asked him to promise he'd make up with his brother, he just snorted, a wry chuckle on his lips. "Well, that's up to him. I don't think I want to be in the same room if he's got his wand." He looked up at her and tried for more sympathy. "I can't... my magic has gone, and it's so.... strange."
He cursed under his breath. Of course Jander would say he knew nobody. "We ahh... met in another city... a couple of months ago." Well that was true. "But he's a tall blonde fellow?"
"Perhaps he could," he muttered. "But, I just wanted to know I had a friend or two left in town. It's why... I pretended... when I first saw you."
"It's hard when nobody wants to talk to you." He shuffled his feet and looked to the ground, playing the lost boy card so well, even he almost believed it.
