Adrian opened his mouth to reply to Sean, his hand even moving over his front jean pocket where his wand was, shrunken down, but he stopped himself, ignoring the anger through him.
He stayed quiet whilst Stephen answered, feeling bad because Stephen didn't deserve to hear any of this. Stephen had told him to watch his mouth and be respectful and he'd ignored it completely just because he was feeling somewhat comfortable in his own skin.
As soon as they got home, Adrian was going to tell Stephen that he wouldn't talk again, not in company. He got himself in enough trouble without opening his mouth to weigh in the arguments and he couldn't be respectful and/or deferent if he was encouraged to reply. He couldn't stay in that space.
He reached up to run his fingers over the collar, closing his eyes and trying to center himself, needing to be able to shove all of his thoughts out of his head. He took the food from Stephen's fingers without even opening his eyes to see what it was, only opening them once he'd swallowed.
