Ernie MacMillan was not a happy Hufflepuff. He'd been woken from a sound sleep and a truly excellent dream this morning by an owl bearing a message from the girl who was supposed to be working in the shop this morning to say that she was sick and wouldn't be coming in. Which meant that Ernie had had to drag himself out of bed far too early in the morning to go down and run the place himself. Something that he was sure was akin to torture given how late he and Terry had been out until last night.
Yet, in spite of his tiredness, there was a thread of exhilaration running through him. Last night had been great... well, more than great really. Especially for a night that not included sex. Not that Ernie was quite ready for sex yet but still... his not-a-date with Terry had turned out to be a date after all. And in the light of the morning after, he felt pretty damn good about that. Draggingly tired but good. He hoped Terry felt the same.
He taken to leaning against the bench behind the counter and muttering to himself to try and stay awake. He probably should have owl David it send him a stimulant potion from the stocks at the estate but he hadn't had time. So when someone came up to the counter and placing objects on it, he pushed himself off the back bench slowly and carefully, muttering to himself that he would stay awake and he would add things up correctly... that was until the familiar voice penetrated his mind.
"Huh?" he said a little stupidly then he recognised Anthony standing on the other side of the counter. "Oh, Anthony, hi! Um..." He blinked as he tried to remember what Anthony had said then when it came to him he blushed and smiled slightly. "Yeah, it was a bit. Good night though. Had a date... not that I knew it was a date at the time. It was sort of a not-date that turned into a date."
