Ernie was fairly certain he'd never been on a date like this... and yes, he was prepared to admit to himself that this was indeed a date. Obviously his subconscious knew more about what he wanted than he did. But this date was going well; they had plenty to talk about and he was enjoying himself.
He hadn't realised how much time had passed until the waiter was handing him the dessert menu with polite deference. He quickly looked it over and made his choice.
"I'll have the chocolate cake and the Genmai Cha tea, please," he said after Terry had ordered. Once the waiter disappeared, he turned back to Terry, the abrupt thought of how attractive the other man was flashing across his mind and causing him to blush a little. "I know. I almost ordered the souffle but I'm a sucker for chocolate cake."
