They made their way through dinner, talking intently about Ernie's shop, and Terry's classes, and Ben. Terry talked a little about the work he was doing for the Aurors, but didn't want to seem conceited so just kept it to vagaries. Before he realized it, almost an hour had gone by, and the waiters had come and gone with empty plates. The bottle of wine was nearly gone when the waiter came back to inquire about dessert.
He handed a smaller menu-with desserts and coffees- to each of them, and Terry looked it over with a smile. He hadn't realized so much time had gone by, it was just so easy to talk to Ernie and keep the conversation going. "Um, I'll have the marmalade cake, and anything the chef recommends for coffee." He glanced across at Ernie, his features still slightly flushed from their conversation. "It all looks so good, it was hard to choose."
