Ernie noticed how close Terry stood to him but he certainly didn't feel like complaining. Instead he ushered terry towards the door, his hand returning to the small of Terry's back without him even thinking about it.
He laughed at Ben's ideas of what they were supposed to be doing. "You should both come to the estate," he said with a grin. "The place is big enough to make some kind of adventure and I'm sure David and his wife would help us out." He could hear how much Terry loved his son in his voice and he kind of liked that.
He nodded as he was able to put names with faces. He remembered Millicent coming in a few times but thought he'd eventually recognised her, he hadn't know the name of her daughter. He didn't really know Miles Bletchley at all though he was fairly certain that he'd been a year or two ahead of he and Terry. "Ah, now I can sort things out."
They walked into the dining room and the maitre d' appeared immediately to conduct them to their table. He produced two menus with a flourish and then handed a second wine menu to Ernie. He bowed to both men then disappeared. Almost immediately a waiter appeared to fill their water glasses then he too bowed and left them to make their choices.
