Smirking, Lucius pulled out a parchment with the details and handed to Rodolphus.
'It targets the metal of the bullets, but won't affect blades,' he added quickly, knowing well Rodolphus' fondness of his sword. He smirked. 'To be more precise, it makes the air denser for moving metal, such as bullets, making them slow down to the point where they're useless in anything other than very close range.'
He smiled. 'Unfortunately they won't work as well on arrows as bullets, as the wood won't be effected - though it should slow them down enough for the archer to be forced to move closer. He will not be as comfortable next time,' he said.
'It works similar to a shield, covering a rather large area as you see here,' he pointed at the document he'd laid out before them. 'Inside the range firearms are useless, arrows moves more slowly. I can imagine that the sword would feel slightly heavier than normal but it shouldn't be more than barely noticable if at all.'
'The largest downside to the spell,' he said moving on to the parts of the spell he was less pleased with. '...Is that you're forced to have one man keep it up at all times. The moment the spell goes down, so does the effect.' He paused. 'Of course the first time used, no one would know why it's not working, or who is holding up the spell, but they'll adapt and learn, so my suggestion would be to keep a few stationed around the man we choose to keep it up, making sure he's safe at all times, perhaps rotate it during a battle so that not one man is a target the entire time.'
He smiled. 'Of course we should probably not use our best men on this, since they're likely to be killed. It should be those you're willing to spare.'
